In 2021 we were able to take some amazing bike trips. Whether multi day trips or a single day trails that we biked, there is a ton of amazing biking and mountain biking to be had in Wyoming. Here are two of our top biking picks from 2021. We included links to more resources so you can plan your own biking trip.

Bike Yellowstone National Park before the gates open!

Not too well known is the fact that prior to the gates opening to motorized vehicle traffic in the spring and right after they close in the fall, bicyclists have private access to bike the park and camp! Steve took the opportunity to bike the park during the Spring of 2021.

Seasons

Due to unpredictable weather in Northwest Wyoming the dates can fluctuate for biking Yellowstone National Park before and after season. Watch the weather and notifications from Yellowstone National Park website for the official dates.

• Early April

• Early November

Safety

It is important to prepare and stay safe. This is a national park with plenty of wildlife and dangerous weather. Here are some tips and safety measures to ensure you have a successful adventure.

• Stay bear aware and have easy access to bear spray

• Have a travel plan and tell people at home. With limited phone signal it is important to have a plan and share it with others.

• Biking is allowed daylight hours only.

• Bikers must bike single file.

• Dress appropriately, temperatures can drop and winds can pick up. Yellowstone is no stranger to extreme weather.

Why it’s on the list for the Best of Wyoming: Steve had the opportunity to try something he has never done before. The opportunity to see the park as it was waking up for spring and explore with our friend Dave, Youtube channel: The Wyoming Project. Biking Yellowstone is like no other experience. The stunning landscape is no longer outside the vehicle, you are in it and that’s what makes it so amazing.
