Celebrating Wyoming Small Business
By: Sarah Reish
“Be the person willing to get involved and make the changes you would like to see in your community.”
As many of you may know, Wyoming Buffalo Company has been a long time sponsor of Live WYld. Lisa has been supportive and actively involved with sharing makers from across Wyoming that we highlight in our articles. This month we want to celebrate her and the Wyoming Buffalo Company.
The History
Wyoming Buffalo Company has been a part of Cody, Wyoming since 1995 and owned by Lisa since 2014. Recently Lisa has overhauled her online store to carry most, if not all, of her products. Her work with local businesses, makers, and the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce has made her a much loved part of the community. She has become a resource for gifts, local products and one of a kind items, making her a go-to for tourists and locals alike.
The Store
Lisa’s store is home to products celebrating Wyoming. It is also home to products made by artisans from all over the state. Walking through the store is like taking a step back in time. The hardwood floors and ambiance celebrate the wild west. Upstairs is a loft open to the store below and is home to Queen Bee Gardens local honey, honey-made goods and sweets. It is a must visit location for all.
The Makers
More than fun touristy items, the store caters to locals. There is a wide variety of makers that Lisa has cultivated, whose products can be found in Wyoming Buffalo Company. We are unable to list everything, but here are some of the items and their makers that you will find both in the store and online.
The Products
Locals can shop frozen ground bison and venison, wild game summer sausages and jerky and even canned goods or home decor. From bison tallow hand cream for ranchers to beauty products for women and even children’s chapsticks, the store is a curated ode to Wyoming and the makers helping to grow local commerce.
Congratulation To Lisa & The Wyoming Buffalo Company
Lisa’s work, not only with Wyoming makers through her store, but within her community has not gone unnoticed. This last February she was recognized by the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce as the 2021 Business of the Year as well as being recognized as the Ambassador of the Year for her role in supporting new and old businesses within the community. Her acceptance speech encouraged others to support their community, to be the person willing to get involved and make the changes they would like to see in their community.
Congrats Lisa!
