Hunting in ‘Squatch Territory

By: Katelyn Parker

Every year as the leaves change color with the transition of the seasons, a dark and sinister time befalls the Sasquatch. His home in the Wyoming mountains is flooded with men and women hunting for wild game to fill their freezers. The imperative for Sasquatch is to remain elusive and keep their existence a mystery. The challenge increases when the population of prying eyes grows during the fall hunting season. Being a professional, ‘Squatch has some tricks up his sleeve.

Disguise and Camouflage

Based on the Sasquatches ability to remain a mystery and no more than a speculation, we can fairly determine that ‘Squatch is clever and cunning. It may have the ability and intelligence to disguise itself as his enemy. You may think it is against the Sasquatches nature to wear bright colors, however, during hunting season wearing orange could help ‘Squatch blend in with the very species that would see his/her demise. At the very least it could deter unwanted shots fired. When orange is not an option, the ‘Squatch may use fall colored foliage to disguise itself. Being naturally dark brown, their natural camouflage is not as effective against the yellow, orange, and red landscape. If you desire catching a glimpse, keep this in mind when you are scanning the countryside.

Temporary Relocation

The Sasquatch knows which areas to avoid during hunting season. Since the hunters typically go to higher elevation, ‘Squatch goes low. This time of year, sightings are more probable along low elevation creek or riverbeds. He also knows stray bullets are less likely when hiding near a popular recreation area. Other people tend to deter the hunters, so it is in the ‘Squatches best interest to be in closer proximity than usually. Keep your eyes peeled, you may finally get your chance to get a peek.

Alternative Food Source

Because the lands where the Sasquatch typically forages is overtaken by hunters, ‘Squatch is forced to find alternatives for sustenance. ‘Squatch may be forced to forage gardens that have not been fully harvested, discarded produce in garbage cans and even morsels from unattended picnic baskets. This is a good time to try to bait ‘Squatch considering the desperation of their situation. Remember, their favorite treat is huckleberries.

Hunting season is a dark and perilous time for the Sasquatch. If you are out and about, hoping to fill your tag and possibly catch a glimpse of the elusive ‘Squatch, please be kind. If you remember from our previous articles, ‘Squatch is gentle in nature, a lover of animals and lives mostly on a vegetarian diet. This means that he is not only in mourning for his fellow animal kingdom friends that are filling your freezers, but it also means the ‘Squatch is not competition to you and the tag you are trying to fill.

Happy hunting!
