Wyoming Buffalo Company - Top Picks for Yellowstone Picnics & Adventure Snacks
By: Sarah Reish
When it comes to the ultimate on the go food, perfect for adventures into Yellowstone National Park, look no further than Wyoming Buffalo Company. Lisa is not only a huge supporter of Live WYld, she is also a sponsor and friend. When we came up with the theme for on the go picnics and road trip snacks she knew exactly what to grab. While we did pick some of our favorites, she added in the perfect items we never would have thought to grab. So, here is everything you need to stave off the hunger and keep you energized for all the hiking and exploring you will be doing in Yellowstone this year.
Early starts call for coffee!
We have shared Mystic Monk Coffee on lists before, but that is because it’s delicious and made 25 miles from Cody, in Meeteetse, Wyoming. Brew yourself your favorite blend and enjoy it while packing the car and then put the extra in a thermos to keep you energized all day long! We can never choose a favorite, but the Hazelnut is probably one of the most popular!
Lunch comes early!
Whether you choose to pull off at a picnic site or back into a pull-off to tailgate and watch a herd of buffalo (that’s our favorite way to picnic) - your lunch can be Yellowstone inspired. Here are two Yellowstone inspired picnic lunches you can pick up in downtown Cody at the Wyoming Buffalo Company.
Yellowstone Bison Box
This fun picnic consists of salami, summer sausage and cheese, you just need to grab some crackers. Lisa and I chose Buffalo Cheddar & Jalapeño Summer Sausage and Elk Salami. The flavors are fantastic when paired with the Pepper Jack Cheese Gourmet Spreadable Cheese… bon appetit. This western charcuterie is as amazing as the views.
Lamar Valley Lunch
This picnic includes two summer sausages and cheese. First is the Venison Summer Sausage, the meat is mild in gaminess and the Antelope Summer Sausage offers a hint of sweetness. These two summer sausages pair perfectly with the Bacon Cheddar Gourmet Spreadable Cheese. Two thumbs up from the Live WYld team! The wild game takes meat and cheese boards to the next level.
Snack time!
A trip into Yellowstone is a multi-day adventure and road trips into National Parks must include snacks! As always, we try to over deliver, we worked with Lisa and came up with the PERFECT Yellowstone themed snacks. Here are the must have road trip snacks that you can find in the Wyoming Buffalo Company.
Animal Cookies
These are Wyoming Buffalo Company cookies and they are inspired by Wyoming wildlife that can be found in Yellowstone. Included are amazing photos of the animals and fun facts. We have to mention, they aren’t just for kids. Adults like animal cookies too!
Buffalo Jerky
These are the perfect high protein snacks for your adventure and both flavors are delicious! Packed in 2 oz packages, it is the perfect amount to fuel your hike or sightseeing excursions. Available in original or teriyaki, we recommend both.
Wyoming Buffalo Nuts
This is a snack enjoyed by people all around the world. Don’t worry, it isn’t anything weird, just Honey Roasted Peanuts! Packaged in 2 oz servings it is the perfect snack to get you refueled to enjoy your adventures in Yellowstone.
Wild Chokecherry Jelly Beans
Jelly beans have been a candy enjoyed for well over 100 years. It is said that they came out of Boston around 1861, but the first media mention was on July 5, 1905 in the Chicago Daily News. Either way, neither had the amazing Wyoming flavor that we have! This sweet little bean captures the flavor of Wyoming’s wild chokecherry and we think it makes the perfect sweet treat to enjoy while exploring the sites of Yellowstone.
Prickly Pear Crunch
Wyoming Buffalo Company took traditional caramel corn and took it to the next level with this sharable snack. This caramel corn has been drizzled with Prickly Pear infused milk chocolate! This sweet treat is a nod to our prairie cactus fruits that come from the nopal cacti. You have to grab this snack for your drive!
Add ons
These add ons provide a little self care for your hands. We know traveling can leave your hands dry and desperate for a little hydration. These two lotions are the perfect fix. The Wyoming Prickly Pear hand and body lotion is the perfect travel size and scent! The Bee Bar Lotion, by Honey House Naturals comes as a solid bar for easy traveling and use, I love mine! Whichever you choose, your hands will thank you!
