What Makes a Wyoming Valentine Special?
Well, we asked our friend Lisa this questions because she curates tons of Wyoming-made artisanal products in her store, Wyoming Buffalo Company and we went out on a Valentine’s Day date to really embrace the experience. So for those of you who love Wyoming and local products and/or are looking to create your own special Valentine’s Day experience for you and a loved one, keep reading!
What made this experience so special?
The Wyoming artisan products and the stunning outdoors! Lisa grabbed some of her favorite snacks and drink mixes, we’ll get to those in a second, and her date, Dave, came with flowers in a beautiful vase. We hit the road and headed up the South Fork of the Shoshone into the Shoshone National Forest. Our destination was a stunning cabin that was nestled in the beautiful mountains above the tree line so we could seen for miles and looked down on the river.
The Perfect Location for an ideal WYld Valentine’s Day.
Our gracious hosts, Kenny and Marie Daniels set us up with a chic cabin at their South Fork Mountain Retreat. Outside of the cabin was a fire pit with comfortable Adirondack chairs. Dave started a cozy fire and Lisa set out the purely Wyoming charcuterie and flowers, made a tasty huckleberry daiquiri, and pulled out some wonderfully warm, hand woven hacienda-style blankets to sit by the fire.
The warm blankets and fire pit kept everyone warm and cozy while enjoying the tasty Wild Game and Applewood smoked cheese board We felt this Wyld adventure Valentine’s Day perfectly embraced our local products and the beautiful outdoors. We encourage you to grab a friend and recreate their experience-it doesn’t even have to be Valentine’s day!
What To Bring:
We want to share some of the items we felt made this a great Wyoming experience that embraced our state and our local artisans, below we listed the curated items Lisa brought from her store. Lisa is a Sponsor for the magazine, but her love and support of Wyoming artisans is why we think she is a great fit to our team!
A Closer Look At A Wyoming Charcuterie Wild Game Summer Sausage
Featured in this Charcuterie picnic is some Wild Game Summer Sausage, for this occasion Lisa choose to bring her favorite, which is the Sweet Buffalo summer sausage. We have enjoyed almost all of her Wild Game Sausage and you really cannot go wrong with any of them.
Zap’s Smoke Shack, Applewood Smoked Cheese
There are tons of flavor options when you really dive in and explore Zap’s Smoke Shack Applewood Smoked Cheeses - from Chipotle, which we enjoyed on our Valentine date, to horseradish, sharp cheddar, muenster, and even spicy pepper-jack. There are tons of flavors to explore!
Keeping It Cozy!
We kept things super warm and cozy with the hand woven Hacienda style blankets. We brought red blankets, but there are many colors to choose from.
The Cocktails!
Nothing is more Wyoming than chokecherries. Lisa brought a local chokecherry daiquiri mix and she chose to use Wyoming made Vodka from Backwards Distilling Company. You can find some great quality spirits, handcrafted right here in Wyoming, to mix with this tasty drink.
The Traditional
Of course Dave brought some flowers for our friend, Lisa. But what made these extra special was the locally hand made vase by Bill Lyons. You can check out more of his work here. Talk about elegant and rustic perfectly meshing together.... Sigh…
Curate Your Experience
All in all, we enjoyed our adventure with Lisa and Dave. They created a unique experience we absolutely applaud. If you are looking to create a one-of-a-kind experience for your special someone, stop by the store, shop online or give Lisa a call so she can curate a special experience for you and your Valentine’s date.
