The story of an incredible journey...and incredible food!

When we were told by multiple people to check out Sweet Zoey’s we decided we needed to include the restaurant in our schedule during our visit to Casper. What we didn’t know was how incredible this visit was going to be.

The food

Is amazing. We love hummus and Gyro’s and we were not disappointed. Steve chose the gyro sandwich and couldn’t even finish it. He said, “it was amazing and they don’t skimp on anything. The tzatziki sauce was incredible.”

I chose the hummus plate with beef and lamb and a side of veggies and naan. This dish is amazing, filling but light. The meat was full of flavor and everything was well balanced.

Zoey also serves Turkish coffee and matcha and boba teas. Be sure to include Zoey’s when considering where to stop for your coffee or tea fix!

The Baklava

Zoey stopped by our table as we were finishing up and dropped off two pieces of baklava. I have never had baklava that tasted so good! The pastry was so flaky and crisp; there was no sogginess, which absolutely blew my mind.

The sweetness I loved so much comes from her house-made sugar syrup, and the pistachios and walnuts held the perfect crunchy texture. 100% amazing.

Zoey makes the pistachio baklava and chocolate baklava that is nut-free, so those who have nut allergies can still enjoy her famous baklava!

The influence

Zoey is from Iraq and her food has a Middle Eastern influence. While she showed me around her kitchen she explained that these were her family recipes. I could hear the pride in her voice and that she felt a connection to family each time she made a dish using the recipes carefully chosen specifically for her restaurant.

The story

Zoey shared with me that she and her husband applied for asylum in the US and once granted were able to escape the dangers they faced in Iraq. Zoe’s background is actually in engineering, not culinary arts. Her journey to Sweet Zoey’s began with a single pan of baklava. After making that pan she was able to sell it using Facebook. It wasn’t long before she was making her baklava for restaurants, baking her sweet treats in a rented kitchen space.

As she continued to grow her baklava business, Zoey’s dreams and planning grew. Her first order of business was to organize the recipes she grew up enjoying with her family. Once she opened Sweet Zoe’s it seems things really took off. Zoey was awarded 2019-2020 Business of the Year.

The community

If the recommendations weren’t enough to let us know this was a gem - Zoey herself, the award, her staff that is like family, and experience assured us this was most definitely the case. The staff was amazing, friendly, helpful, and truly adored Zoey and their work at the restaurant.

The guests at the table next to us shared their love of Sweet Zoey’s and that it was a favorite. We decided it was a favorite of ours as well and we most definitely will be back and recommend you get there as soon as you can!
