Once there was outdoor gear lost and alone, it could be found in your basement or garage, never seeing the light of day. Well, today that story changes. Maybe you tried it and didn’t like the activity, or you outgrew those waders. Meet Karin, our OAR (Outdoor Adventures Revived) guide. She has rejuvenated our old gear and breathed life into how sports gear can continue to live a long and adventurous life. You can visit OAR in Cody, Wyoming, located on Big Horn Avenue.

The history

Karin draws you in with her smile and love for adventure. She is, in fact, an adventure racer, 2008 National competitor and lover of all outdoor sports. Adventure racing is a team sport and includes and is not limited to climbing, road and mountain biking, paddling, trekking, road and trail running, swimming, and so much more. Karin explained that they came to Wyoming years ago, but had to return to the south for family reasons. Within ten months she and her husband returned to Cody, stating, “we live in a superb outdoor recreation area”. Rather than working for someone else, Karin and her husband chose to dive into business ownership after seeing a need for used sports gear. Now here we are, 4 years later in a much loved community storefront.

How it works

While the store is small, it is fierce. OAR is not a large storefront, however it is jammed packed with seasonal gear, high quality gear, making it a treasure trove for outdoor enthusiasts. Currently, Karin is moving the winter gear into storage and restocking the store with spring and summer gear including, kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets, climbing gear, camping gear and everything else one would need to enjoy the Wyoming outdoors.

Stuff lying around?

If you have outdoor gear in good condition that you aren’t using and it is just lying around, take it to OAR! Karin offers trade, purchase, store credit and consignment. With the changing outdoor season here are some of the items Karin is actively selling and seeking.

Why we love it

Not just Live WYld, but we as individuals, even our family members, love OAR because we share a mutual passion for reviving and finding new homes for gear and items we love. From items passed down in our family to refurbishing and finding a new use for items that need a new direction, the ideology of finding a home for gear that has life left in it is something we applaud.
