The perfect winter margarita

Okay, I have always felt margaritas are a summer drink, but this margarita just won a winter Olympic medal. With layers of flavors this margarita hit notes we cannot describe, which is why we got the recipe so you can make it, or you can head to Trailhead restaurant and try it yourself.

The ingredients

  • Vanilla Coconut Milk

  • Coconut Water

  • Grand Marnier

  • Patron Silver

  • Agave

  • Lime

  • Cranberries

  • Rosemary

How do we describe the flavors? The coconut, patron, and lime add a wintery coolness while the Grand Marnier, cranberries, rosemary, and agave add a savory and sweetness.

We have determined this drink to be a huge success. It complimented the season as well as our craving for a wonderful margarita. We decided it pairs well with the fish tacos on the lunch menu.

What is a winter margarita?

Well a margarita generally has tequila and limes. This margarita is no different, but margaritas are hugely customizable and can range in flavors, from grapefruit margaritas to jalapeño margaritas, we have tried many flavors, but not one like this. What makes this a winter margarita is more than the garnish of cranberries. Jerome the GM at Trailhead made us this drink, using coconut water and coconut milk flavored with vanilla. The coconut complimented and did not over power the tequila, Grand Marnier, and lime. The balance was smooth and cool, but warm flavors made it the perfect winter margarita.

We know we cannot invoke the flavors with words, so we thought we would share the recipe.

When Should I Serve a Winter Margarita?

We think they should be served anytime! Just kidding. This makes a great cocktail for a party, so any hors d'oeuvres would work. If you are looking to theme the cocktail party: ceviche and chips, guacamole, cilantro lime grilled shrimp, et cetera. This drink pairs well with light meats like seafood or vegetarian options as the drink is quite light.
