The Coalter Block
After arriving in Lander and meeting with the amazing Lander Chamber of Commerce, we got checked into our hotel and walked down main street and headed into the Lander Bar. It was like walking back in time. The wood floor, the ambiance, and the decor all together made the Lander Bar a place you wanted to go to, hang out in, and come back to.
Breaking down Coalter Block
Coalter Block consists of a collection of different businesses all grouped together within the block. It includes fine dining, casual dining, event space, and the bar. We are going to dive in and give you a closer look at what you can enjoy when checking out Coalter Block in Lander, Wyoming.
Lander Bar
The Lander Bar has some great beer and great history. The building was built in 1907 and has been a variety of different businesses including hotel, boarding house, and even a brothel. Most recently it has been opened as Lander Bar and grill and offers guest beer from Lander Brewing.

Seasonal beer

Gannett Grill
If you want some good food to go with your beer check out Gannet Grill’s menu from burgers to salads, appetizers to hand tossed sourdough pizza. The food is excellent and served in the seating area of the grill, at the bar, and on the deck/patio.
The Loft
The Loft is an excellent space for your upcoming event. You can book it for private use or take advantage of the events hosted upstairs. Some events hosted in the past include trivia, concerts, and more!
Scream Shack
Closed in the winter, but the Scream Shack is a happening place during the summer. The adorable tiny ice cream parlor offers scrumptious ice cream treats for those looking to cool down and enjoy something refreshing.
CowFish
An amazing fine dining establishment. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at CowFish after beer tasting. I enjoyed the scallops while Steve enjoyed the New York Strip. Cooked perfectly and paired with a lovely wine, dinner was a hit. We highly recommend this for those looking for a nice dinner out.
Outdoor space
Not to be forgotten is the stunning outdoor space situated between the Gannit Grill and Cowfish. The space is expansive and includes a stage for live music. Be sure to watch the calendar for upcoming events.
We met the person behind the concept
We met with Kyle, one of the owners, and were able to learn more about him and his business. Lander Brewery is a satellite of Snake River Brewery - the original Lander Brewing closed during prohibition after opening sometime in the late 1800’s.
We asked Kyle about the concept behind Coalter Block and asked him to share something with our readers. We told him if he could share anything, what would he want you all to know? He shares that this is an old building with new additions. They want it to become an epicenter and heart of the community. A meeting place for outdoor recreators is right there at Coalter Block and the Lander Bar. It is a place to meet up before going out on your adventures where you can enjoying the fun things to do here in Wyoming. Then it becomes a place you can come back to and close out your adventure, all right there at the Coalter Block. He stressed how he wants this for both visitors and locals alike.
